  1. How does Callplus+ know which substitute to call?
    When you enter substitutes into the Callplus+ system during the setup process, you have the option to prioritize your substitutes in the order that you wish them to be called. Additionally, Callplus+ allows teachers to be associated with "preferred" substitutes. Callplus+ will attempt to arrange these substitutes first. Another feature offered by Callplus+ is the "Sub Type" feature. Sub types can be used to match up certain types of substitutes with certain types of teachers. Callplus+ is designed to go through the same process you would in scheduling the best substitute possible for your teachers needing substitutes.


  2. Can staff not needing substitutes still use the Callplus+ system?
    Every staff member can use Callplus+ if you choose to do so. The staff members not needing substitutes are coded as such and although these names will appear on your absentee reports, Callplus+ will not attempt to contact a substitute for these staff members.

  3. When does Callplus+ call the substitutes?
    You set up the calling times you want to use. Starting in the early morning and then again in the afternoon and evening hours. Your calling times can be changed if needed, as well as, individual substitutes may have their own calling times. Substitutes can choose to be called any hours they wish - this exclusive feature allows your substitutes the ultimate flexibility.

  4. Can teachers call in anytime during the night?
    Yes they can…If a teacher has an emergency at 2:30 in the morning they can call in and report their absence. The Callplus+ system will not start calling substitutes for the absence until your pre-defined calling times.

  5. What about pre-arranged teacher absences?
    Callplus+ offers several features for pre-arranged absences or "day time arranging". If you pre-arrange any substitute you can enter those names in the system and Callplus+ will remove those substitute names from the calling list for that particular date or dates.

  6. How will I know if Callplus+ does not find a substitute?
    Callplus+ offers a printed report each morning and an Administrator Feature that allows you to call into Callplus+ at anytime and monitor the system. One of the Administrative features provides a list of teachers who Callplus+ was not able to arrange for a substitute. However, this is a rare occurrence with Callplus+. Callplus+ goes through extensive searches to try and find substitutes even if the telephone rings busy or reaches an answering machine, Callplus+ will continue to locate substitutes and even cycle back to those numbers that were previously unavailable.

  7. Do I have to have a separate computer?
    No, not at all. The Callplus+ software/hardware operates on just about any existing computer in the school. An available serial port, and any IBM or compatible with Windows 2000, or XP are all you need.

  8. Do I have to have a separate phone line?
    Many schools choose to use the existing FAX line for Callplus+. Since the Callplus+ system is used at night these lines are usually available. A simple switch can be installed in a matter of seconds to allow for the use of these already existing lines.
